  • SCOPE

    1 Scope

    1.1 These requirements cover early suppression fast response (ESFR) sprinklers having nominal discharge coefficients and installation orientations as referenced in this standard for installation as part of sprinkler systems for fire-protection service. Requirements for installation and use of ESFR sprinklers are included in the Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, NFPA 13, as well as other NFPA standards.

    1.2 The requirements in this standard are not intended to restrict the application of representative fire and other tests for special sprinklers, as referenced in the Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, NFPA 13, that are intended to provide protection for specific fire hazards.
